Ernest Baello is a Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS) and partner at Moradi Neufer LLP who is trial-ready and experienced in contested high-asset litigation, and who works to resolve matters efficiently while protecting clients’ financial interests when a case must be tried. A strong advocate and seasoned litigator, Ernest handles complex family law actions throughout California, in particular Los Angeles and the Bay Area, including San Mateo County, Marin County, and Oakland and the East Bay.
For more than a decade, Ernest has developed extensive experience working through a variety of challenges with his clients. He has the expertise and adaptability throughout all phases of complex divorce and custody actions to obtain favorable results, whether through trial or settlement. Ernest has represented hundreds of individuals, including executives, business owners, and high net worth clients, in matters involving custody, child support, spousal support, property division, domestic violence, move-aways, business valuations, equity compensation, post-judgment requests, and premarital and post-marital agreements.
Much of Ernest’s practice centers on the financial complexity that defines high-asset divorce in the Bay Area and Los Angeles: valuing closely held businesses and professional practices, dividing equity compensation such as RSUs, ESPP holdings, and pre-IPO equity, and drafting premarital agreements that protect business interests, separate property, and future earnings before marriage. For technology executives and professionals on the Peninsula and in the East Bay, that often means working through deferred compensation structures and disparate-basis assets where forensic financial analysis and tax considerations shape the right outcome. In Los Angeles, he brings the same depth to divorces involving business owners with multiple entities and executives with complex compensation, including matters where one spouse controls the entity finances and disciplined discovery is essential to a fair result.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ernest was a software developer for the National Center for Supercomputing Applications. By working in computer science, he learned how to efficiently break down large-scale problems into manageable pieces that can be solved step by step, an approach he brings to untangling complex marital estates.
Ernest is a Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS) certified by the California Board of Legal Specialization, a designation held by a small fraction of California family law attorneys, requiring demonstrated experience, continuing specialized education, and a written examination in family law. He is also a graduate of the National Family Law Trial Institute (2022), the intensive trial-advocacy program for family law litigators. Together, these credentials reflect what clients experience in practice: a specialist who prepares every complicated, high-conflict case as if it will be tried, and who uses that readiness to resolve matters efficiently when settlement serves the client better.
When not at work, Ernest enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with his family.
